Other types of Gems at the Crater of Diamonds

There are other types of Gems than those found in the soil at the Crater of Diamonds. Most people would instantly think of the possibilities of finding that diamond the size of a marble. Some people dream of finding lots of Quartz, or better yet, Amethyst. But one of the most overlooked gems at the park are the people you meet. Many of the regular miners found at the park are glad to show off their skills to curious tourists as they process material. It is often considered an privilege to glean some knowledge from these guys and gals before you dive head long into your pursuit for that big retirement rock. There are also park employees that have become well known through the years. Most people would agree that as a visitor, a good experience starts with the smiles from the park employees that you encounter before you even make it to the search field. Lastly, there are people that visit the park from all over the United States, as well as from other countries. I have had the opportunity to explain in Spanish (in which I am somewhat fluent) to interested tourists as they gaze upon the piles of mud, rock, and gravel I have created. All of these together make for a good place to swap stories and pass along some good info from one to the next. These are some of the best gems that are found there.
